Geocache Description:

The cache is NOT located at the above coordinates. In fact, the BIRD is no longer located at the coordinates. He's moved several times during the past few years and is currently housed behind a fence. With that in mind, I'm going to give you the template that used to be located on the bird's legs. The template should be N 35° 51.ABC W 083° 56.DEF Yah. I know. I forgot to scramble the clues. Lol

FrankenBird is Back...

...And he wants to introduce you to his friends.

In March 2006, MDC introduced us to a creature we spent the next two years calling Frankenbird.  Located just of Frank Bird Ln was a sculpture created of left over parts in the shape of a strange bird.  Frankenbird mysteriously disappeared in March 2008 and his cache was archived.

He's back.  And he's had a makeover.  "Big Bird" as his owners call him, now has a much happier look.  No more looking like a creature from a futuristic horror movie, Big Bird has a happy, playful attitude.  And did you know he has friends?

Just around the corner, at the birthplace of Big Bird you will find many artistic creations that are the brain children of Bud Dietrich, owner of Nisus Corporation.  I contacted the Dietrichs about placing another cache so people would visit Big Bird, and to get a little background on the creature.

Bud's wife, Pat, wrote back:

Big Bird was born after we decided we didn’t need a crane that came with the building when we bought it. That became his “body” and the rest is just junk that was around the plant. He was moved around from spot to spot over the years becoming quite a landmark and getting written up in several local papers. But the sun and weather had dimmed his original bright colors. Last month when we had some huge winds that blew off his wings Bud decided he needed a make-over rather than a repair. So now he is all bright and shiny again and ready to receive visitors. We have quite a few people coming by to see him and we all get a big kick out of it. My husband, Bud, is the mind behind him and all the other “stuff” around Nisus. He dreams up an idea and has fun putting it into action.

So let me introduce you to Big Bird and his friends!

The above coordinates will lead you to Big Bird, while you can find him easily enough on your own, be aware he holds a secret.  He doesn't have the cache, but he does have a template which will be needed to find the cache. Find the magnet and write down the template.

Once you have Big Bird's egg of wisdom, you are ready to take a little tour of the Nisus grounds.  Stand back to back with Big Bird and look for the VERY LARGE flag to your left. This is where you are headed next. The cache is hidden with the owner's permission, but they did mention that the gate is closed after hours.  This will not hinder your search as there is no fence.  You will not need to walk in any landscaping or search any of the metal creatures in the business' vicinity... just look and take notes.

You'll need to answer the following questions to find the cache (the answers are all numbers):

 A) How many points are on the moose's antlers, add 1?

 B) How many humps does "Nessie" have not counting her head and tail?

C) How many tail feathers does Big Bird have?

D) How many strands of hair are sticking out of the female dancer's head?

E) Look at the road sign, not only does it have a name, it has a number.  What's the middle digit of the number on the road sign?

F) Just inside the gate you will find a creature "springing" out of the ground.  How many letters make up it's name?

You now have what you need to find the cache.  Stumped? Remember what the Big Bird said.

The cache container is a round plastic, camoe'd and hidden well.  Please place back exactly as you found it and cover well.  Hope you've enjoyed the tour and the interesting creations.
