Geocache Description:

Walking tour of some notable locations on the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park. Final cache placed with permission of land manager.

The listed coordinates are NOT for the final cache, but are the coordinates of a possible place to park. Parking is free after 4pm on weekdays and all day on weekends, otherwise you should park at a meter. The final cache is located just off campus, but within walking distance. The total expected walking distance for the day is about 1.6 miles.

This cache consists of six intermediate stages and a final location. Each intermediate stage will give you a digit in the coordinates of the final cache, which is a traditional-style Lock-n-Lock container with some excellent prizes for the first few lucky people to find it.

The six intermediate locations will take you on a walking tour of the University of Maryland campus, taking you to several interesting locations. Each correct answer to the questions below will give you the value of a digit A-F in the final coordinates.

Point A: Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center

Completed in 2001, this building hosts many concerts and plays each year, and is home to the Schools of Music, Band, Dance, and Theatre. The Performing Arts Library is a favorite study place for many students.

The coordinates will take you to the main entrance. Look through the main glass doors. Which one of the following do you see?

Point B: Cole Field House

Home to the Terrapins basketball teams from 1955 until 2002, which was the year the men's team won the National Championship. Also known for hosting the 1966 National Championship with Texas Western defeating favorite Kentucky. Named after Judge William P. Cole Jr., who was chairman of the university's Board of Regents from 1944 to 1956.

Inductees are required to perform various tasks, such as constructing a replica of this symbol and taking it to their professors to sign. Maryland's chapter of this society has been considered one of the best in the nation for many years.
