It's time once again for TVG's International Geocaching Day Fishing Tournament. Join us for a fun time "fishing" for the big one or maybe just hanging out with the anglers. There will be "fabulous" prizes! FABULOUS I tell ya! Come prepared to catch your limit!
And this year includes a cook-out!
- 9:00 AM... Registration opens
- 10:00 AM... Registration closes
- 10:15 AM... Weigh-in begins
- 11:00 AM... Must be in line for weigh-in
- 12:00 PM... Pot-luck luncheon
Winners will be announced and prizes awarded after weigh-in is complete. EVERY participant, including the little anglers, is required to enter the tournament at the registration table by 10:00 AM. After registering, each participant will receive a cheat sheet listing prime fishing holes and secret spots to increase the likelihood of success in the tournament. These locations will all be within walking distance of the registration table.. Children are welcome and encouraged to fish. 🐟🐟🐟🐟
FORMAT/RULES:
Temporary, unlisted geocaches can be found at various spots in the park; you will be provided the coordinates for each hide at registration. Each cache will contain several sealed envelopes containing "fish". These envelopes must remain sealed or they will be disqualified from being counted toward scores. Choose only ONE envelope from each location. The volunteers working the weigh-in will open your envelopes and "weigh" your fish as each fish will have a weight clearly marked on it. Your largest five fish will count toward your total.
Grand Prize: The angler with the highest TOTAL WEIGHT OF FIVE FISH will be named Champion and awarded the Grand Prize
Please remember it is August and HOT.🔥🔥🔥 Please bring plenty of water, bug spray, 🌞 sunscreen, and hats. We all need to stay safe. This will be under a covered pavilion so the event will take place rain or shine. Feel free to bring a chair, hang out, and cheer for your favorite angler if you would rather not go fishing. You may get recruited to help, though. 😉
Now, let's talk about the grub!
Ol'Fogie will provide and grill burgers for all attendees! If you are planning to hang out and eat, please bring something for the crowd. Needed items include:
- Buns
- Condiments
- Sides/Salads
- Drinks
- Ice
- Desserts
- Plates, utensils, cups, napkins
- A llama for the kids to ride... Nah, just seeing if you're paying attention.
Please mention in your "will attend" note the number of guests and what you will be bringing. An accurate count is important for the grill-master and others bringing stuff; so make sure you post your planned attendance as early as possible.
