Parking: Suggested parking is in the car park at the provided coords, there is a footbridge to take you over to Horsbere. Or if there is space you can park by the gates leading in to Horsbere Brook Reserve (alternative parking).
Where: Meet up 10:00 by the gates leading in to the Reserve (alternative parking coords), or find us in the Community Woodland (published coords).
What: Over the past few years, thousands of trees have been planted to create new woodlands at Horsbere Brook, many by Geocachers, and with regular care the trees continue to grow and thrive. Tree planting in the Community Woodland area began in 2015, and many trees are mature enough to no longer need support so can have their stakes removed. Others still require support and we will be checking their stakes are secure.
So join us for today's tree care session where we will be checking and securing guards and ties, hammering in or removing stakes, and weeding around the trees.
How: The Countryside Ranger will be there providing guidance and tools if necessary. Please bring your own work gloves and, if you have them, appropriate tools. So if you have shears, a lump hammer, secateurs, please bring them along. Don't worry if you don't have tools however as the Ranger will have a supply too.
Health and Safety: The session and will be covered by council insurance as long as you are working under the Countryside Ranger's instruction.
Please make sure you bring along your own refreshments as it can be thirsty work.
Homemade cake will be provided at breaktime!
