Walk down the Chateau Mosquito Track, along the stream, then back up the Kuataika Track. (The Chateau Mosquito Track is closed, so access from the Kuataika Track only).
The tracks can be quite steep near the stream, although the stream itself follows a very slight path for just over 3km (losing about 60m elevation). You'll need good shoes as the rocks can be loose. You'll also need to SWIM across some short pools, so be prepared to get wet and possibly cold. Sistema containers are great for keeping the electronics dry (not a drop in mine!).
Don't go after a lot of rain. There are gorge(ous) sections with no quick exit, so don't get caught.
It's best to go with someone, especially so you can arrange a car at each of the tracks.
The published coordinates will take you to a couple of distinct nikau palms of the left side (looking downstream) of the stream. The cache is located on a rock ledge in the wall behind the second nikau - see spoiler photo. It is a 1 litre square sistema container painted black.
If you're going downstream and you get to the kauri dam remains, you've gone to far. If you're going upstream, the cache is around the next corner past here.
