The fertile shale soil in this tiny fragment of bushland harbours a vigorous growth of heathland plants, including bottlebrush, tea trees and casuarinas.
Look out for the wombat berry, a twining, long leafed vine with edible yellow berries (don't eat the seeds).
There's a hanging swamp, complete with walkway so you don't get your feet wet, further up from the cache and if you keep walking, there are magnificent views of Bilgola beach and its cabbage tree palms.
There are steep cliffs near this cache, so keep an eye on your kids and dogs. The cache is nowhere near the edge.
Note: parking along Barrenjoey Rd or a side street, is free. Only the big parking lot charges for parking.
