Geocache Description:

24 September 2022, 12:00 - 15:00

Let's celebrate all things geocaching and have a picnic before winter gets here. Better yet, let's have a Potluck Picnic! I will provide the hamburgers and hot dogs (buns included smiley) and yall provide the sides, condiments, and drinks. This will be a great way of sharing your cookout faves with everyone and maybe introducing us to something different. I've also rented the shelter for the day so in the event we have rain, well, we can keep celebrating and stay dry! There is a playground nearby and the lake where you can fish if you so please (WV fishing license required), but feel free to bring any yard games you may want to play (cornhole, etc). After having these community events canceled or postponed for the past two years, let's finally get together and have a great time!

When you log your "Will Attend" please provide the side you are bringing, so that we don't have an abundance of one or two sides and nothing else. Also, if you will have someone in your party in a wheelchair, let me know and I can have park staff remove the sign blocking the path while we are there (they use a sign to prohibit vehicles from pulling down to the shelter but will remove it if asked). There are plenty of tables in the shelter and if we have enough room, we can set up a table to show off, share, or even exchange TB's and pathtags. I will have a few prizes to give out also (I'm still working out the criteria). I have the shelter rented for the whole day, so we are not limited to only 3 pm, we just have to have the area cleaned and vacated before dark. The earliest I will be there will be a half-hour before to set up the grill. *For my meatless folks, I use grill screens to grill on, so if you want to bring a meatless option, I will have a clean screen to cook on*

Some housekeeping stuff:

This is a WV state park, so there is no alcohol allowed in the park. Dogs must be leashed at all times and you must clean up after them. The ground around the shelter is gravel leading out to sand near the lake shore. It is also sandy around the swings and playground equipment. There is a stream feeding the lake nearby and at times can be full and rushing; small children need to be watched closely so they won't fall in. While the park staff tries to keep the geese at bay, there may be goose or duck poop in the area. The park is a day-use park and closes at dark but there is NO entry fee. If you are not from this area and would like more information on the park itself, check out www.littlebeaverstatepark.com.
