On February 28, 1958, 26 students from Prestonsburg Elementary and Prestonsburg High School and their bus driver perished when the bus they were riding plunged into the swollen water along their route. This tragic accident struck the friends and families of the students from Calf Creek, Cow Creek, Buffalo, Sugarloaf, and Goble Roberts. This monument was erected to remember those lives lost and the families they left behind. Take a moment to read the names of all the victims and remember them, Lest We Forget.
