Once again we are planning a huge CITO the week before CCARS16!
Last year this event was a huge success and we are hoping for another excellent turnout.
We are hoping to clean many kms of highway and this will only work if lots of people turn out to help!
We've had great response so far for the CCARS16 events and we need you to step up again.
This is the best chance for geocachers to be in the public eye and to give back to the community.
Event Information (from the 2015 event - GC5V0CC)
Please meet at the posted coordinates at 9:00am. This is a deep shoulder on Dunbow Road just before and after the golf course driveway. There is parking here for at least 20 vehicles. We will put hazard markers around the parked vehicles so that members of the public understand that the vehicles are part of an organized event.
We will have a brief safety talk, and hand out safety-vests, gloves, litter sticks and garbage bags. We'll split into two teams and within each team, as best as possible, group folks into pairs. One team will clean the northbound verge from the road edge to the fence line, the other team will do the same on the southbound side.
Each team will be chaperoned by "arrow trucks" that will drive at walking speed along the hard shoulder as a safety measure.
After the safety talk, the teams will disperse to their sections of Deerfoot Trail (all within eyesight of each other) and the clean-up will begin. We will arrange for some cars to be parked at either end of the section we are cleaning and we will drive all teams to their starting points (no need to walk it twice!). Children are very welcome to attend as long as they are accompanied at all times by an adult. We will leave the full garbage bags at roadside for collection by the maintenance crews.
Please bring water to drink, and dress appropriately for changeable weather conditions, as we will clean the highway until approximately 3:00pm.
