Geocache Description:

This cache was placed as part of the
GROOVY WEST SIDE CITO EVENT

The cache is not at the posted coordinates

The Spirit of John Conrad Nagel began his search for the Letterbox at the marker located at the cache coordinates. He was born in 1866 and people of the 19th Century were typically shorter than today. The length of his steps are approximately 2 feet.

He began his journey by walking 20 steps North. There he found a very smooth road. He turned and walked West along it for 30 steps. As he looked around he saw a much larger road and walkway 20 steps North.

While he walked he saw bags of an unknown material floating from branches. He began to use these to collect trash that littered his path. He was amazed by the changes he saw in this 21st Century, but appalled by the condition of the parkland.

When he came to the walkway, he turned West again. As he walked he encountered some very wet terrain due to the spring rains.

He traveled West for 286 steps and stopped to view the Rouge River peaking through the trees. If he went as far as the bridge he had gone too far. In the summer the river is not easy to see. He turned around and to the South he saw a Venerable Willow just 24 steps from the walkway.

There he found the treasure he sought. He used the Seal and Ink he found with the treasure to mark his Notebook and left an imprint of his own Seal in the Log Book.

The cache container found at Ground Zero for this Letterbox Hybrid was previously placed as a different cache by another owner in 2012. In April of 2017 we found the now archived container, it had been moved a few miles from the original location. It is being REUSED in the Spirit of Earth Day.
