Although you may heard about the event, but usually noone knows where was the Paneuropean Picnic and where is now the monument.
On 19th August 1989 at 3:20 pm. at this place several hundred citizens of East-Germany broke through the "iron-wall", the border between Austria and Hungary, to step onto free land and to travel to West-Germany. This spectacular mass-escape speeded up the changes and finally led to the demolition of the Berlin Wall.
The Paneuropean Picnic is a memorial, erected to evangelize idea of a borderless, common Europe.
The cache is a glass container in the area of the Paneuropean Picnic.
A very good quality road goes from the Fertőrákos to the memorial. It was hard to find a good hiding spot for the cache at both places, so before leaving please make sure it's well covered.
