A cidade de Angra do Heroísmo é a capital histórica dos Açores e a sede da diocese de Angra, a qual inclui a totalidade do arquipélago.
A riqueza da sua história e património edificado levou a que a sua zona central fosse classificada como Património Mundial pela UNESCO, a 7 de dezembro de 1983.
A cidade é sede do Regimento de Guarnição n.º 1, uma das mais antigas unidades militares portuguesas.

The city of Angra do Heroísmo is the historical capital of the Azores and home to the diocese of Angra, which includes the entire archipelago.
The richness of its history and built heritage led to his central zone being classified as a World Heritage by UNESCO, on December 7, 1983.
The city is home to Regimento de Guarnição No. 1, one of the oldest portuguese military units.

A zona central da cidade de Angra do Heroísmo é largamente autêntica em termos da sua localização e configuração, formas e desenhos, materiais e substâncias. Foi substancialmente reparada e reconstruída após o violento terramoto de 1980, que danificou significativamente a cidade.
O centro da cidade de Angra conseguiu preservar a sua rede rodoviária dos séculos XV e XVI, bem como os seus edifícios inventariados. A utilização de materiais e técnicas tradicionais de construção é incentivada em projetos de reabilitação, sem prejuízo dos avanços tecnológicos.

The central zone of the town of Angra do Heroísmo is largely authentic in terms of its location and setting, forms and designs, materials and substances. It was substantially repaired and rebuilt following the violent earthquake in 1980, that significantly damaged the city.
Angra’s city centre managed to preserve its 15th- and 16th-century road network, as well as its inventoried buildings. Use of traditional building materials and techniques is encouraged in rehabilitation projects, without prejudice to technological advances.

Para registar esta cache virtual, deverá tirar duas fotografias, sendo que uma delas terá que ser obrigatoriamente no GZ (Alto da Memória) e a outra num dos quatro locais descritos nos Waypoints (Câmara Municipal, Castelo de São João Baptista, Sé ou Igreja da Misericórdia).
Fica ao seu critério, aparecer ou não nas fotografias. No entanto, deverá comprovar que as fotos foram tiradas aquando da publicação da cache, pelo que nas mesmas deverão aparecer algum elemento que o identifique como geocacher, como por exemplo o seu GPS, algum trackable ou até mesmo um papel com o seu nickname ou com o GC da cache escrito.

To register this virtual cache, you must take two photographs, one of which must be in GZ (Memory Hill) and the other in one of the four locations described in Waypoints (City Hall, São João Baptista Castle, Cathedral or Misericórdia Church).
It's up to you whether or not to appear in the photographs. However, you must prove that the photos were taken when the cache was published, so there should appear some element that identifies you as a geocacher, such as your GPS, some trackable or even a paper with your nickname or the GC from the cache written on it.
