Hulcott is a small village to the north of Aylesbury in central Buckinghamshire. First recorded in 1200 as Hoccote there has been a church on the site of All Saints since at least the 14th century. Constructed of local limestone surrounding a timber frame, several fossils can be found in the outside walls of the church including some excellent examples of Portland Screws. Originally in a parish in its own right the church now forms part of the wider parish of Bierton with Broughton and Hulcott.
Interesting fact: originally the village name was pronounced Huckot with the emphasis on the first syllable. However as the population has changed over the years from a mainly illiterate populace to a mainly literate one the pronunciation has changed in line with the spelling of the village name.
