When people left the frame houses, stores, and cobble paved streets of the east to settle in South Park, a simple log cabin was often their first home. Some quickly built rough, temporary structures, but the Snair cabin was built by a wagon maker accustomed to carefully crafting and assembling sturdy wagons that could handle hundreds of miles of heavy loads and rough roads. Note the painstakingly squared off logs that make up the walls and how carefully the joints are fitted together. This cabin was built to be a snug home for the Snair family and has survived for well over 100 years, as well as a move to this location from the Tarryall Road.

The cabin is located just off highway 24 at the Lake George Community Park and parking is available. The cabin is usually open for visitors but the cache is located outside.
