Dugout Cache Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

gbmcache: Because of the paucity of attempts and the difficulty in maintaining the cache I am letting it go. My visit today allowed also that the growth around the final is such that any future finds would be difficult. The concept of this field puzzle has been one of my favorites, and I am sad at having to go the archive route.

Geocache Description:

The coordinates for this cache will take you to a wonderful overview of the ball field in Bryant Park. If there is a game in progress enjoy your upper stand seats, or go down for a closer view. Please be careful descending the stone stairs

Bryant Park, constructed in the mid-1930s to serve residents in the neighborhood of Wesley Heights, was one of the first small scale public parks in Charlotte, and represents the early stages of the twentieth century push for neighborhood public green space in Charlotte. The interesting feature of the park is the complex network of granite stone walls and distinctive stone bleachers.

The Park was built on land donated by E.C. Griffith, a local developer and large center city land owner. The original park comprised 16 acres. Only 6.6 acres remain. The Great Depression halted work on the park but funds and labor provided by the Work’s Progress Administration and the Civilian Conservation Corps went to complete the park. Griffith Park, later Crockett Park, was also part of E.C. Griffith’s legacy. Griffith Park, a 3200 seat baseball park in the Dilworth neighborhood, was the home of the Charlotte Hornets baseball team, the antecedent of the Charlotte Knights. The grand old wooden structure burned down on March 16th, 1985

This is a resurrection of the "Mi Casa, Su Casa" cache by mooreadventures. It had a successful life of over a year, but was muggled and eventually archived. If you have been here before the only challenge will be discovering the actual cache. mooreadventures' original concept has been preserved.

Once upon a time there was convenient parking for the park. But now with the nearby school having taking over the parking lot you will have to park along Suttle Ave.

To find the coordinates of the cache you will want to ponder your view. Then, when it hits you what to do next, act accordingly. Somewhere, somehow there is a way to figure the coordinates

The coordinates of the actual cache are:

N 35* 13.HHH
W 80* 52.VVV

The cache is a well hidden small container that holds only the log and small items. It makes use of a significant feature of the park.

Congratulations to therapaint as the FTF 1-28-08
