Geocache Description:

December 2022: As the board walk and bridge over the Dane Stream are still unsafe and awaiting renovation the Pleasure Grounds No 4 cache has been temporarily relocated to the south of the bridge. Therefore, if you are at Pleasure Grounds No 3 it is now necessary to retrace your steps to where you previously crossed the Dane Stream in order to reach the No 4 cache location. As you will not be passing waypoint S1 the answer to the question there is A=9 and B=4.

The Pleasure Grounds were given to the local parish in 1890, and contained small water meadows with alder and willow along the valley of the Danes Stream which runs parallel to the coast at this location. Studland Common is at its western end is mostly rough grassland and scrub whilst Sharvells Copse was originally a pine wood forest that was destroyed in the 1987 hurricane but now is being regenerated as mixed woodland. Permissive paths allow access throughout this area and the caches have been hidden with this in mind so that they are easily accessible from these footpaths. Permission has been granted from the Milford on Sea Parish Council for caches to be placed in this area. Please respect the flora and fauna in the area and replace the caches out of sight as you found them. It is suggested that the walk is started at Cache No1 and completed in the sequential number order to cache No5. At cache Nos 2 and 5 you will find in the front of the logbook either a letter X or Y with a corresponding number against it to use in the coordinate equation to find the bonus cache. The other numbers to fit into the coordinate equation for the bonus cache are to be found by answering the questions at the way point stages given as you pass between cache Nos 3 and 4 and 4 and 5. This will enable you to find the coordinates for the bonus cache. Navigation between the caches should be fairly straightforward following the appropriate footpaths as indicated by the compass direction. When going from cache No 4 to 5 you initially turn right onto the footpath after crossing the bridge. You will pass the interpretation board at waypoint S2 where the following questions are to be answered: Total number of birds (both male and female) as shown in the pictures on the board? Answer: C How long is the Natural England Higher Level Stewardship Agreement for? Answer: DE Remember that you should have already passed the plaque at waypoint SI where the following question is to be answered: When was the bridge and boardwalk built? Answer: 19AB
