Geocache Description:

This little series, take you round the beautiful village of Sherfield-on-Loddon. Situated just 6 miles north of Basingstoke on the A33 to Reading.

A bustling Village, housing two pubs, Post office, shop, hairdressers and home for about 1636 people. It also has its own village Hall, which was built in 1869, originally as a row of six cottages, converted into a hall in 1909, in remembrance of Revd A G Barker. The village church St Leonard dates from the fourteenth century, although the chancel was rebuilt in 1866 and the steeple in 1872. The only vestiges of the former church are some mediaeval windows containing fourteenth and sixteenth century stained glass. It is said that Oliver Cromwell gave to St. Leonard's Church the bells which survived uncracked from the siege of Basing House.

You can park in layby N 51° 18.898 W 001° 01.589, or in either pub car park.
PLEASE DRIVE SLOW along this road, as the ducks tend to cross at anytime.

Along this route keep an eye out for all the wildlife, there are lots of birds, horses and ducks. See if you can see the Grey Heron at the pond. In wet weather wellies or strong boots are a must, as it can get very muddy. Mind brambles and wire at most. Bring a pen or pencil with you and Enjoy.

Tree coverage may be a problem.
