Geocache Description:

1st Annual Northeast Recreation and Park Association Geocaching Event

This event was formerly known as the Roseville Parks and Recreation Geocaching Event, but in an effort to showcase the many beautiful natural settings throughout Macomb County - I have enlisted the support of our NERPA organization and its' dedicated recreation professionals!

Northeast Recreation and Parks Association (NERPA) is a regional organization which supports and promotes the parks and recreation profession. Our members consist of professionals from Macomb County, St. Clair County, Eastern Wayne County and the East District of the Detroit Parks and Recreation Department. We strive to provide positive recreational oppurtunities within the communities we serve by offering high quality programs, recreation centers and parks. In the next several years we hope to showcase some of the best parks our organization members have to offer!!

This years event will follow a similar schedule as the Roseville events in previous years with some minor adjustments.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

10:00 AM - Geocaching 101 Class- This class provides an oppurtunity for new cachers to become oriented with the exciting sport of geocaching. - Taught by Gary & Donna Scrammling (Team CoyChev)
12:00 - Potluck Luncheon, hot dogs, buns and condiments will be provided, we ask each caching team posting to attend please bring a dish to pass!!
1:00 - Loggable Event Caching in Dodge Park, new caches are being placed with permission from Sterling Heights Parks and Recreation
3:00 - Scheduled time for sale of 1st annual NERPA event Geocoin (Sample to be displayed soon)- $10 per coin, limited quantity for event attendees only, all proceeds will go to funding this event in the future.
3:15 - Prize table drawings, if you would like to make a donation, that would be greatly appreciated!!!


FACILITY HIGHLIGHTS:

- Dodge Park is located along the Clinton River, the park is home to over 7 miles of paved hiking/jogging/biking trails- BRING YOUR BIKES!!!!
- Childrens playground on site
- Indoor Restroom facilities
- Indoor/outdoor seating
- THIS EVENT IS RAIN OR SHINE!!
- Electricity available on site, should you choose to bring a hotdish for the potluck lunch
- Dogs are permitted, leashes MUST NOT exceed 6 feet in length!!
- Bring Sunscreen and BUG SPRAY to park, location is along a river!


PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:

- Picnic fun and Geocaching!!
- GPSr units available for loan if you do not have one
- Local cachers will be available to support "newbie" cachers.


There are hundreds of caches in Southeast Michigan - plan on caching the area before or after the event!!

WHAT TO BRING:

1. Outside/Lawn chairs (if needed), inside seating provided
2. Dish to pass for Potluck
3. Something for Prize table if you wish
4. $10 for event coin purchase

When posting a "Will Attend", please include the number of people in your group attending.
