Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Deadman's Bay Path, which runs from Fort Amherst in St.John's to Blackhead.

This is the first of eight new geocaches on this path - and we wish to add more, eventually, along with an Earth Cache.

Parking is available at the designated area; please do not try to park in the community of Fort Amherst as the roads are narrow and it is prohibited.

As you hit the trailhead, it is obvious that the trail has nowhere to go but up at the beginning.  For the first 10-15 minutes of hiking, the trail goes from essentially sea level to 153m (500'), so it is recommended that you "stay within yourself" and set a comfortable pace to start.  Enjoy what the East Coast Trail has to offer, and the views of the Narrows and Cabot Tower.  The trail will level out at the summit, and then roll along for a few kilometers and make for a great hike.

This cache is a 500mL camo'd container, literally no more than an arm's reach off of the path, since no one wants to bushwhack on a steep hill!

Upon initial hide the cache had the usual swag along with a travel bug.

Enjoy!
