This is the third generation of a cache atop the East Pinnacle, a spectacular spot which provide views of the bluegrass to the west and mountains which lead off to the east.
Hidden in 2002, the initial version required the use of a rope to reach it and even then it would turn up missing due to the volume of hikers that come up here. The first trailmix event in this area included an opportunity to rappel down to retrieve it.
Version 2 came a few years later once the area opened back up for cache placements. I was along for the ride with the CO when it was placed and helped put the cherry on top make it a bit more "fun". However, it still came up missing despite its location being away from the vistas.
Version 3 of the cache is a large, plastic military tube with log and plenty of room for trade items. As always, bring your own writing instrument or else you will need to hike back to the parking lot! Hopefully this cache will remain in place for a while but only if finders take care to hide it back well. PLEASE!
