Rainer Maria Rilke, a German Language lyrical poet of the early 20th century, stayed in Duino Castle between October 1911 and May 1912, the guest of Princess Marie of Thurn und Taxis. There, in 1912, he began the poem cycle called the Duino Elegies (Duineser Elegien).

This is the third of a series of "poetic caches" placed along the "Sentiero Rilke" to draw geocachers to this amazing scenic walk, while at the same time celebrating the poetry of Rilke.
The number written at the beginning of the logbook is needed in order to find the coordinates of the 7th "bonus" cache.
One can only imagine that the opening line of the Duino Elegies was a reaction to the wild Bora wind that regularly lashes these cliffs in winter. The cache is placed about 20m from the path in the "safe" inland direction, in a sort of "castelliere" structure built around a rock outcrop. 18 October 2020: cache location moved by a few metres to a more sheltered position that is also a bit easier to reach even though it callsfor an easy bit of rock climbing. The container is not big enough to be a "regular" but bigger than the usual "small" and is intended to be a TB Hotel of sorts. Hidden from the muggle crowds that frequent the clifftop path, one can sign the logbook and swap bugs undisturbed.
Questa è la terza di una serie di "cache poetiche" nascoste lungo il "Sentiero Rilke" per attirare i geocacher a questa incredibile passeggiata panoramica, e simultaneamente per celebrare la poesia di Rilke.
Il numero scritto all'inizio del logbook serve per calcolare le coordinate della settima cache "bonus".
Si può immaginare che la prima stanza delle Elegie Duinesi sia stata una reazione al vento selvaggio di Bora che sferza queste scogliere d'inverno! La cache si trova a circa 20 metri dal sentiero nella direzione "sicura"col mare dietro spalla, in una sorta di struttura "castelliere" costruita attorno a uno sperone roccioso. 18 ottobre 2020: cache spostata leggermente in una posizione più riparata, e anche più facile raggiungere, anche se richiede un'arrampicata facile. Il contenitore non è abbastanza grande per essere un "normale" ma più grande del solito "piccolo" ed è destinato ad essere un TB Hotel. Nascosto dalla folla mugghellica che frequenta il sentiero panoramico, si può firmare il logbook e scambiare i travelbugs in pace.
