Geocache Description:

The Wittenbach/Wege Center is open from dawn to dusk. Dogs on leashes are welcome, please pick up after your dog (bags are provided at the beginning of the trail). Thank you to Letters From Home who contributed the stamp from their now archived Letters From Home series.

Time seems to go by way too quickly, it is hard to believe that our much longed for grandchild is 5 years old already. Emmett loves to be outside, he loves to run and he thinks that the woods are a great place to explore – lots of birds, small animals, and patterns of sun shining through the trees. We recently went for a walk/run in the Wittenbach/Wege Center and he found a spot for a letterbox cache. We parked in the lot and walked over to admire the sculpture and then headed for the woods (this is the spot where the coords will take you to, you should be at a sign that reminds you to clean up after your pet).

Enter the woods and follow the trail down a small hill until the trail curves to the left. Follow the trail until you reach the point where Emmett was told to wait (by another sign that reminds us to clean up after our dogs). You will also see a trail sign here, look on the map for the orange trail and follow it - it will be the main trail.Follow the trail to the bridge over the creek (on trail maps you will be on the orange trail).

If you're like Emmett, you'll want to pause at the creek to listen to it sing and perhaps play some Pooh sticks! After crossing the creek, you'll see a trail sign and a pick up after your dog sign. Turn to the right at the sign and head up the hill. You'll go through some slight curves, descend a bit and then you get to the spot where we ask – how do you climb a mountain? And Emmett knows the answer is – one step at a time!

Once you reach the top of the hill look for a metal gate to the right of the trail. You're almost there now! Just past the gate is a phone box. Walk about 20-25 steps past the gate and phone box (depending on the size of your steps). Between the trail and the road you will see a tree and to the right of it a small stump. There you will find the treasure you seek! We hope you enjoyed your walk and be sure and look for other treasures as you hike the trails in the Wittenbach/Wege Center.

Congrats to dirtbikegranny who went through a lot of mud and ice on the trails in order to get the FTF! Also, thanks to dirtbikegranny and mabossch who helped refine the letterbox directions.
