Geocache Description:

Located in the George Washington National Forest, about 200 ft from the summit at Flagpole Knob on a steep mountainside. Vegetation to assist in climbing includes low brush and small trees. Altitude at summit is 4302 ft. You can drive to the summit. A 4WD vehicle is recommended.

This cache is a small ammo can located very close to where an amateur ("ham") radio club camps out twice a year for a VHF/UHF radio contest. It used to be a Rubbermaid container, but a bear bit through it and got the log, too. You can still see the bear teeth holes in the log.

The cache is named "CQ CQ CQ" which is transmitting jargon for "I'm listening for any other ham radio operators out there who hear me and would like to have a conversation."

The views from the top are spectacular if the weather is clear, both during the day and night. The area is a popular campground for all types. You may see families, college students, or even bear hunters letting their dogs get a chance to tree a bear. There are no restroom facilities, unless you happen to be lucky enough to be there when the radio clubs have portajohns hauled up for the week. Be careful! The hillside is steep. Not recommended for small children.

Note: You will be visiting the home of abundant wildlife, including rattlesnakes. Do not stick your hand into any of the hides in this vicinity unless you have thoroughly checked for snakes. I use a long stick.

Congrats to Shine for First to Find! FTF Prize was a pair of mini diagonal cutters and some small plastic cable ties.
