Welcome to the Island of Contadora!
This island in the Gulf of Panama concerns to the Las Perlas Archipel; with 227 islands is volcanic origin.
This little paradise locks back on a long history to the 15th century.
The name Pearl-Island goes back to the earlier living indians here, who dived for pearls here and traded with them.
Attracted by the wealth commanded to conquer the inhabitated islands of spanish Conqueror Vasco Núñez de Balboa, while the entire indian tribe was exterminated.
Some years later slaves were settled for fishing and pearl diving.
Over the centuries it also offered escaped slaves and outlaws hideout and was considered a pirate hideout.
The island Contadora ( spanish for accountant ) so got its name from the numerous hiding places for loot.
Since the 60's the island is developed for tourists and it also serves as the residence for the rich.
Currently the island has 253 inhabitants and so even has its own small airport.

Therefore over 2,000 humpback whales switch from the northern to the southern hemisphere.

Esta isla en el Golfo de Panamá se refiere a la de Las Perlas Archipel; con 227 islas es de origen volcánico.
Este pequeño paraíso cerraduras con una larga historia en el siglo 15.
