A Worldwide Flash Mob 15 event, on Brisbane's Goodwill Bridge at 10am precisely. Bring bubbles!
World Wide Flash Mobs – Started back in 2007, and featuring events all across the world held at the same time... except that would be 3am for us, so we've got permission to run it at a friendlier hour. Not much point blowing bubbles at an empty river! Traditional geocaching flash mobs were 15 minutes long, but current guidelines mean we have to lengthen that to 30 minutes, so the agenda will reflect this.
Bring a bottle of bubbles (the soapy kind rather than the drinking kind) - we'll be blowing them off the bridge along the river for our event.
I'll have a couple of extra bubble bottles available if anyone forgets theirs or makes a last minute decision to attend.
Agenda
09:45-09:59 Geocachers approach the area, looking normal. Casually position yourselves anywhere along the bridge railing on the downwind side of the bridge. Try to stay at least 2m away from other cachers so the bubble effect is more like a waterfall all along the bridge. Don't give any indication that anything out of the ordinary is about to happen!
10:00-10:04 Blow your bubbles! As many as possible off the bridge and along the river, a veritable river of bubbles along the Brisbane River.
10:05-10:14 Come to the centre of the bridge for the official event photo and fill it with as many bubbles as possible. I will be standing on the little lookout section, taking the photo back toward the bridge, so lining up under the awning would be perfect.
10:15-10:30 Sign the log book if you feel so inclined and disperse. With Southbank at one end of the bridge and the Botanic Gardens at the other, I would suggest some morning tea one way or another. Good time for catching up and chatting and the like! You must be present during the 30 minutes to claim the event.
If everything goes as planned, we will have had people coming out of nowhere and gathering for 30 minutes, holding a geocaching event and then disappearing. For the Flash Mob to have its full effect, it must appear to come from nowhere and disappear just as quickly.
In the event of cyclonic conditions and torrential rain, please reconvene at the Nepalese pagoda at S 27° 28.524' E 153° 01.280' .
