I visited the Ammo Can Adoption Agency the other day to adopt some more cute little ammo cans. However, there were none there; all had been adopted. I was assured that more would be available in a week or two and would I come back. Turning to walk out my eyes fell on some of the larger ammo cans that had been there for as long as I had been visiting the agency. My heart broke at the sudden realization that the larger, more ungainly ones hardly ever get adopted. It is always the more manageable little ones that get taken away to live lives of productivity of one sort or another. I threw my arms around one, a big brother of the many, many little ones out there enjoying their lives as geocaches. I tried not to look at the others that would be left when we departed.
I lugged the big fellow to my car and pondered what life I would offer him. And there he sits, in a forest near frequently traveled walking paths, waiting to be visited by people who are actually looking for him. As large and awkward as he is, it is such a nice feeling to know that he is actually sought after. What grander life can an ammo can have than to be a geocache, ever opened by curious fingers to see what he contains, and then trading from time to time nice little toys, coins, and other delights? I thought I would just set this robust cache out in the open; he should be large enough to take care of himself. But he begged to be hidden, still not secure out in the real world. I had instructed him on how nice geocachers were and that he had nothing to fear. Then he reminded me that there may be long waits between visits. So I found a spot for him to hide.
Sometime in the big fellow's life, he asked that his name be changed to Big Blother. None of his relatives have offered such requests. Go figure!

CAUTION: After rains, the approach can be a bit boggy. Well, sometimes more than a bit. It is not a good idea to wear your Sunday shoes when looking for Big Brother.

IMPORTANT: The lid is not like the lids on the smaller ammo cans. You must unlatch the lid from both sides. Replacing the lid is a bit tricky. Please ensure that the lid is properly in place and secure with the end flaps on both SNAPPED down before leaving the cache.
