Geocache Description:

***CONGRATULATIONS to Makana50, bluepeacock71 and Geocachegirl6 on the FTF!!!****

Chief Seattle (c. 1786 – June 7, 1866) was a Suquamish Tribe (Suquamish) and Dkhw'Duw'Absh (Duwamish) chief. A prominent figure among his people, he pursued a path of accommodation to white settlers, forming a personal relationship with "Doc" Maynard. The city of Seattle was named after him. Chief Seattle was a respected leader and is known, among other great accomplishments, for a renowned speech given in 1854 in his Native tongue to the governor. The speech is considered one of the greatest orations in history. It is subject to much study and numerous translations.

Chief Seattle adopted the Catholic Faith. As a respected tribal leader, he identified with Noah's large family and was baptized "Noah Sealth".

Personally, Suquamish and Saint Peter Catholic Mission are very special to us. This was our first home in Washington and we got married at the Mission on this day in 1995.
