This cache is a singular cache that can be done on its own or as
part of a larger series of caches that make up "Bootheel Bonanza"
Welcome to the Bootheel Bonanza! This is a series of caches located
in the New Mexico Bootheel. There are five individual caches and a
sixth bonus cache. The caches will be placed in some of the great
spots of this seldom explored part of the country. You will find
some outstanding scenery and lots of wide open spaces that
characterizes this basin and range type of topography. In the
interest of maintaining a sense of exploration I have omitted some
of the typical driving and hiking directions, but that should only
make the find sweeter for the few that make it out to these caches.
Keep your eyes open for wildlife and maybe, just maybe you'll be
lucky enough to spot a jaguar.
So strap on the hiking boots and let's go exploring...
Bootheel Bonanza: Pyramid
Peak
Pyramid Peak is an often used moniker for mountains of the Western
United States. This particular Pyramid Peak can be easily seen from
I-10 as you drive back and forth across southern New Mexico. It is
part of a little visited mountain range called the Pyramid
Mountains and it happens to be the highest point in the range. It's
slopes are generally open desert, but there are occasional cliff
lines that will have to be avoided.
After finding the cache don't forget to write down the two items in
the front of the log book. They are part of the code that will be
used to help you locate the final cache in the series. There will
be a letter followed by a number (i.e. D = 8) and a Greek letter
followed by a number (same format).
