Denna cache var syskoncache med den pensionerade cachen ”Ovanifrån”.
Många har nog inte ens tänkt på att det skulle kunna vara en ganska trivsam upplevelse att stanna till och se Ångermanlands stolthet Höga Kustenbron, underifrån. Södra brofästet står i Mörtsal i Härnösands kommun och det norra brofästet (där du kommer att leta cachen) finns på halvön Hornö i Kramfors kommun.
Bron invigdes officiellt 1:a december 1997, men lördagen innan var bron öppen för allmänheten att vandra på. Dåvarande Vägverket (idag SVEVIA) delade ut reflexer där det stod ”Höga Kustenbron, först över”. Man uppskattade att 15 000 besökare gick de 1867 metrarna och tillbaka, under den dagen. Även posten hade ett ”första-dags-kort” och ett frimärke med bron som motiv, samt att de hade satt upp en postlåda där korten fick en unik poststämpel med ort och datum.
Fram till 1997 var området lite ”mitt ute i ingenstans”, man fick ta Vägverkets färja från Veda för att ta sig den kortaste vägen till byn Nyadal, som ligger i dalen nedanför E4:an. Byn hade inte haft en reguljär busslinje på många år. De flesta i världen kände nog inte till Nyadal och Norabyggden fram till 1997. Bron är 1867 meter lång och pylonerna (=bärande pelare som är avsmalnande i toppen) 182 meter höga. Den segelfria höjden är 40 meter över vattenytan. Det tog 4 år att bygga bron och man satsade hårt på arbetsmiljö och säkerhet under brobygget. Inte en enda arbetare omkom under bygget, även om det skedde några olyckor, så blev det endast hyfsat lindriga personskador.
Strax bakom där bron tar land, finns ingången till de stora och djupa bergskamrar där brons vajrar är fästa i berget. När man byggde bergsrummen så fann man den vulkaniska bergarten svart Diabas. Bergarten uppskattas vara 1215 miljoner år gammal. En lokal smyckestillverkare tog rätt på Diabasen och designade ett silversmycke som finns till försäljning i Ullånger.
Koordinaterna är tagna efter bästa förmåga, bron skuggar i princip alla satelliter. Koordinaterna kommer troligen att hoppa groda över hela stället, trots något exaktare koordinater tack vare Tre musketörers hjälp. Men jag tror du kommer att hitta cachen ändå.
Vintertid ska cachen ej besökas! Det finns risk för fallande snö och is från bron!

This cache was a sibling cache with the retired cache “From above”.
Not many people have ever even thought that it could be quite a pleasant experience to stop by and see Ångermanlands pride; the High Coast Bridge, from below! The southern end of the bridge was built in Mörtsal, in Härnösands kommun. The north end of the bridge (where you will search for the cache) was built on the peninsula Hornö, in Kramfors kommun.
The bridge was officially inaugurated on December 1, 1997. During the saturday before the opening ceremony, the bridge was open to the public to walk across. The former Swedish National Road Administration, SRA (today Svevia) handed out a small reflective plate, for use in traffic by pedestrians, with the text "High Coast Bridge, the first to walk across." to everyone. They estimated that 15 000 persons did walk the 1867 meters, and then back, over the bridge during that day. The Swedish Postal service made a "first-time-postcard" and a stamp that had the bridge as a picture. They did also set up a mailbox where the cards got a unique postmark of the place and date.
Until 1997 the area was considered as "in the middle of nowhere", you had to go by a SRA Ferry from Veda, for the shortest route to the village Nyadal, the small village located in the valley below E4. There was no common bus to the village. Most of the world did not know anything about Nyadal and Norabyggden until 1997. The bridge is 1867 meters long and the towers are 182 meters high. The vertical clearance is 40 meters above the sea level. It took 4 years to build the bridge and the SRA and the companies whom built the bridge invested in work safety during the construction. There occurred some accidents but there was only relatively minor injuries.
Just behind where the bridge reaches the land, there is a entrance to the large and deep mountain chambers where bridges wires are attached to the rock. When they built the rock chambers, they found the black volcanic rock Diabase. The rock is estimated to be 1.215 billion years old. A local jewelry manufacturer took the Diabase and designed a silver jewelry, that is for sale in Ullånger.
The coordinates are taken in good faith, the bridge shadows all satellites signals. The GPS coordinates will probably leap like a frog, all over the place, despite more accurate coordinates, supplied by Tre musketörer. But I think you will find the cache anyway.
A small and friendly reminder:
- Do not visit the cache in the winter! There could be a hazard with snow and ice falling from the bridge!
- Beware of mugglers.
- If you trade things in the cache, please note it in your logg here. State what went out and what went in. If you don’t trade, just note ”No trade”.
- If you discover the cache in the wrong place or if the cache is visible. Please put it back in the right place and/or hide the cache.
