Cell Service Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Team Appaloosa: Yeah, who are we kidding, we're not going to be fit enough anytime soon to make the hike back up here, even if the park ever does open again. So, we're archiving in hopes that someone will place some caches in the area and lure us back up the hill.

Geocache Description:

Fantastic hike up a very steep mountain. Camoed Cookie Tin. Located on the Pleasants Ridge Trail near the Stebbings Cold Canyon Reserve,

We placed this cache on what looks like the peak from the Canyon Creek campground. When we first pulled into this campground, the mountain called to us, beckoned for a geocache! Hike is very steep, you will need to use your hands to get up and down, and your bottom to get down. Trail is very slippery in some places, 1300' elevation change for the entire trail. There is plenty of poison oak on the trail as well. We placed the cache on Father's Day, and I was very happy to finally have cell phone service so I could call my dad and wish him well (no cell service in the campground). When you get the cache, please wave to us down at the campground!

Please be sure to re-hide well!

If you are coming from the Winters side, you'll pass over the bridge for Putah Creek (also over the campground), then shortly on your right, just before the hair-pin turn, you'll see parking in a dirt lot (N 38° 30.558 W 122° 05.806). The main trail head is in the hair-pin turn, be careful crossing the street. Keep left on the trails until you are really going UP.
