When bandito pulled into the driveway, he
heard a terrible racket blaring from la casa. Upon entering,
he found bandita listening to a cacophony of oboe, tuba, and viola
over and over again. Several minutes passed, and she did not
acknowledge his presence, as she was so enrapt in the discordant
tones.
Finally, he yelled, “Give it a rest, bandita!
This sounds awful!”
“Please do not be so crotchety,” she replied.
“I am trying to listen.”
“Pianissimo, bandita! This noise would
not please anyone!” he shouted over the ruckus.
“But bandito,” she said, a semiquaver in her
lip. “It is not the melody that is pleasing, but what is contained
within.”
He looked at the notes that she had
transcribed. “Hey, that’s pretty sharp!”
“You’re a natural, bandito. Let’s go find
this cache.”
