Geocache Description:

Join us on Saturday, August 5th from 11:00AM - 4:00PM for the 9th Annual Kenai River Picnic event!

Join us for a potluck picnic lunch featuring BBQ burgers and hotdogs provided by GeocacheAlaska! and cooked up by grill-master SSO JOAT on Saturday, August 5th, at Soldotna Creek Park. We will be at the Fred Meyer Pavilion #1, which is to the north side of the concert stage adjacent to the main parking lot. Please bring a picnic-ready side dish to share with the crowd, as well as your own favorite beverages. No alcoholic beverages as this is a family activity in a public park and our site rental does not allow for any alcohol to be served.

Please RSVP with a "Will Attend" log stating how many adults and how many children will be in your party as soon as you can. Also state what side dish you will be bringing. When planning your side dish, please consider that we historically have about 60 people attending! Everyone needs to Bring Your Own Beverages!

Plan to spend the whole day as we'll have plenty of fun-filled activity in store. There will be a running of JOAT's daycache challenge, which involves a team-based race to find as many daycaches as possible while working against the clock. You are welcome to form up teams in advance, but we will assist with forming up the teams for those who come alone or with just a couple people. Bring your GPS and appropriate outdoor clothing to engage in a rapid-fire multi-cache hunt!

There are no attending requirements for this event. You may show up for just the social time, just the lunch, or just the games and still log the event as attended. Eaters and spectators are welcome. New cachers and muggles who are interested in finding out what geocaching is all about are also welcome to attend. Coupling up with some experienced cachers for the daycaching game is a great way to learn some new geocaching skills!

For those coming from afar, don't forget to plug away at some of the area puzzles before you come down. After all, this is the original Puzzle Capital of Alaska and you'll even have access to the creator of many of those puzzles so you can try and coerce a hint or two.
