*gln: ARCHIVING ABANDONED CACHE

Greetings kathwag,

Looks like our timing is off and It’s time to say goodbye to this cache.

Since I haven't any maintenance here in a very long time, I am going to assume that your priorities have changed and you’ve gone in a different direction.

Archiving due to lack of maintenance is permanent.
CACHE ARCHIVAL IS PERMANENT.

Let me know if I can be of assistance in the future.

Thanks a MILLION for all you have done, Glenn

Geocache Description:

Located about tennish foot or so off of the path. Ducking is necessary around the branches.

This cache is called the screaming squirrel. The story got it start one spring day when I borrowed my parents good kite and took my kids to the park to fly it. It went up perfectly, then the 20 year old string broke. Imagine that!!!! The kite ended up in the tree, this tree. Later that day, I went back with my extendopole and tried to fish it down with no luck. Everyday for a week, rain or shine, my extendopole and I visited the tree. One day I took my son with me - as we got to the tree, a squirrel started running towards us. I thought this was odd since they usually run away - not at, but I continued to raise the pole. As I started around the tree, I heard than noticed a small squirrel screaming at us. I then understood why the larger squirrel had charged us - Momma. The little squirrel made quite a racket the whole time we were there. We were successful, we got the kite! The only piece missing was the wooden cross bar. As we walked away, my son told me that the squirrel ran up his leg and down again. Maybe I should have called it attack of the squirrel. Later that day, I came back to search for the cross bar, hoping the screaming squirrel would be gone, but as soon as I entered, it started screaming at me immediately. I looked at the little squirrel and about 1 foot in front of it was my cross bar, still in one piece. Well, after my week of adventures of coming to this location I thought it was fitting to put a cache. The hardest part was the name - Screaming Squirrel or Kite Eating Tree. You see which name won! Enjoy

Please make sure you cover the cache and keep it hidden. It is a bright yellow container hidden by branches at the base of the kite eating tree.
