Geocache Description:

Five caches on some quiet hills with an extensive panorama.  Lovely walking at the top of Lunesdale.

The second cache involves a gentle ascent from Kiln with many false summits until eventually the well built trig point comes into view.  Nettle Hill achieves a grand height of 382m and gives brilliant views across the whole district.  As often happens, the lesser hills give a better sense of the surrounding hills than some of the their grander fellows.  The walking is fairly easy with a handy 'ditch' path leading across the fell, and numerous other tracks, paths and pathlets.  There are some strange 'ponds' along the red route, which geohounds will enjoy.  Do try and pick a nice day for the best views!

A note of caution: there is an electric fence which runs on the south side of the final summit, about 200m or so away.  It's fairly low and it's purpose is stock control.  You have two choices, either head for the gate waypoint, below and shown on the route map, or if following the red dots, you will have to step over it.  It's not much of an obstacle unless you're very short of leg!  We didn't do extensive testing, but from what we could tell it didn't appear to be on, but we make no guarantees about this!  It's a simple matter to step over it, or divert to the gate.

Off to the small sheep.
