Desolation Row Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Team Troglodyte: We had hoped to replace this cache with a smaller container, but some changes to the hiding spot have made even that impossible. Too bad, this was always a challenging cache for folks to find.

Geocache Description:

'And the caching squad they’re restless
They need somewhere to go
As lady and I look out tonight
From desolation row'

(with apologies to Bob Dylan)

After the desolation of this area caused by flooding in 1994, and again in 1999, many of the homes in this low-lying area of the subdivision have been demolished.  Of the homes that remain, a few are abandoned, and several of those remaining show lingering signs of flood damage.  Since this spot is deep into the flood plain, in place of the homes, the subdivision is now constructing a community park.  The project has not been under way long, and much remains to be done.

The cache container is slightly larger than a 35mm film canister and its hiding spot
is easily reached via a short walk on paved walking paths.
