Geocache Description:

Location: About 6 km south of Middlemarch, Central Otago, New Zealand.

The cache is sort of above ground, but invisible from 3 m.
The terrain is an easy walk.

Initial Cache Contents:

* A 0.5 m length of number-eight wire
* A tin of vegeterian mock duck (past its use by date)
* A set of four spark plugs (NKG BP6ES; only slightly used)
* A 10 by 5 mm Neodymium-Iron-Boron (NIB) rare earth super magnet
* An aviation Visual Terminal Chart showing the Queenstown and Milford areas

Directions:

The cache (Accuracy 10 m Elevation 239 m) is hidden in a 2 litre plastic bucket within a crevice in one of the many schist tors (the crevice has been covered with schist also)

To get there, turn west off Sate Highway 87 at a sharp 90° turn in the road (S 45°30.440' E 170°07.159' Elevation 230 m) about 6 km south of Middlemarch (S 45°33.796' E 170°07.052' Elevation 204 m) onto Kidds Road (a gravel road). After going about 2.5 km, stop at the set of gates on left (S 45°33.798' E 170°05.138' Elevation 229 m). Carefully drive through these gates (open them first :) and park in the car park (S 45°33.854' E 170°05.200' Elevation 228 m), the stash is about 200 m to the south.

After you find the cache (or not ;-), you may like to follow the mown track to the left for about 30 minutes to Sutton Salt Lake (one of few in New Zealand; bring plenty of drinking water if it is a hot day). Continue the circuit and you will arrive back at the beginning (You will get a spectacular view of the Rock and Pillar Range to the west).
