Geocache Description:

This is a virtual cache celebrating our pioneer heritage, and presenting an opportunity to find an easy cache site.

You have all the clues you need to find the information you need. It is not necessary to talk to the people in the center.

IF THE SITE IS CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER ETC... PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO VISIT. PLEASE RESPECT ALL BARRIERS AND GATES.. THEY ARE THERE FOR YOUR PROTECTION!

As we move along the interstate we take so much for granted, traveling in air-conditioned comfort, at high legal speed, eating a variety of food prepared by others, and sleeping in comparative luxury.

Many of us are descendents of Immigrant forefathers who came to America from around the world. Mine came from Europe and Scandinavia. One set came via ship to Toronto, then by rail to the heartland of America, and finally by covered wagon train to the place they settled. IT TOOK THEM TWO WEEKS TO TRAVEL SIXTY MILES BY COVERED WAGON IN THE LATE 1800'S.

This cache experience is an opportunity to do something a little different as you and your family travel on the Interstate system. Before you leave home have your children research your family history. Ask questions like....

How did their great grandparents travel way back when?
What did young people their age do as they traveled?
What responsibilities did young people have?
Did young people drive covered wagons?
Did they need permits or licenses?
Were there seatbelts in covered wagons?
Did covered wagons have steel belted radial tires?
Ask them to be prepared to share what they learned with others as you are traveling.

Most young people will do this instinctively, if not, designate one of the children to ask every five minutes "Are We There Yet?" This could be the person who presented the best research in the discussion, or every five minutes evryone say in unison "Are We There Yet?". Be creative! Take a break, stretch, and have some fun at this site. DRIVE SAFELY!! Try the "Are We There Yet?" just for fun! Please tell us about it. :>)

There is nothing to leave since this a virtual site on public property. However, you are required to find the following information….
A. The name of the site. B. The last sentence on a large commemorative plaque.

Please do not forget to share your experiences and log in here. To verify the find e-mail us the answers, don't post them here please.

IF THE SITE IS CLOSED DUE TO WEATHER OR CONSTRUCTION ETC... PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO VISIT. PLEASE RESPECT ALL BARRIERS AND GATES.. THEY ARE THERE FOR YOUR PROTECTION!
