Warner Brothers Pictures is one of the biggest companies in the film industry today. From Harry Potter to The Dark Knight, blockbusters have carried the Warner Brothers name along with it. Their company reached far heights, but these brothers started in Youngstown. Arriving in 1895, members of the Warner family sold bicycles, soap, and ice cream and later opened a butcher shop. Their sons, however were interested in film. They purchased their first movie theater in New Castle Pennsylvania and invested in theaters in the surrounding areas. The brothers began to produce movies and established a production company in California. They created the Warner Bros. Company offically in 1923. Their childhood home site sits at the top of Walnut Street.
