La battaglia di Rusecco, nota anche come la battaglia di Cadore, è stata combattuta il 2 marzo 1508 in una zona attraversata dal torrente Ru Secco tra i paesi di Valle, Nebbiù e Tai di Cadore. A fronteggiarsi sono stati i soldati della Serenissima Repubblica di Venezia, comandati da Bartolomeo D’Alviano, e l’esercito di Massimiliano I d’Asburgo, imperatore d’Austria, comandato dal duca Enrico di Brunswick.
La battaglia, che si è svolta su terreno innevato, fu vinta dai veneziani e dai cadorini che pur contavano molti meno soldati di quelli schierati dall’Imperatore Massimiliano. I veneziani e i cadorini hanno intrappolato l’esercito austriaco che è stato decimato: i morti furono poco meno di 2000. Lo scontro durò meno di mezz’ora, ma fu talmente cruento che lo stesso Tiziano Vecellio volle raffigurarne la cruenza in un dipinto gigantesco a Palazzo Ducale a Venezia.

The battle of Rusecco, also known as the Battle of Cadore, was fought on 2 March 1508 in an area crossed by the Ru Secco stream between the towns of Valle, Nebbiù and Tai di Cadore. Facing each other were the soldiers of the Serenissima Republic of Venice, commanded by Bartolomeo D’Alviano, and the army of Maximilian I of Habsburg, emperor of Austria, commanded by Duke Henry of Brunswick.
The battle, which took place on snow-covered terrain, was won by the Venetians and the Cadoris who, though counting for far fewer soldiers than those deployed by Emperor Maximilian. The Venetians and the Cadorians trapped the Austrian army which was decimated: the deaths were just under 2000. The battle lasted less than half an hour, but it was so bloody that Tiziano Vecellio himself wanted to depict the brutality in a gigantic painting at Palazzo Ducale in Venice.

Die Schlacht von Rusecco, auch bekannt als Schlacht im Cadore, wurde am 2. März 1508 in einem Gebiet geschlagen, das vom Bach Ru Secco zwischen den Dörfern Valle, Nebbiù und Tai di Cadore durchquert wird. Die Soldaten der Serenissima-Republik Venedig, unter dem Kommando von Bartolomeo D'Alviano, und die Armee Maximilians I. von Habsburg, Kaiser von Österreich, unter dem Kommando von Herzog Heinrich von Braunschweig, standen sich gegenüber.
Die Schlacht, die auf verschneitem Boden stattfand, wurde von den Venezianern und den Korinthern gewonnen, die weniger Soldaten hatten als Kaiser. Die Venezianer und die Korinther haben die österreichische Armee eingeschlossen und dezimiert: es gab knapp 2000 Tote. Der Zusammenstoß dauerte weniger als eine halbe Stunde, aber er war so blutig, dass Tizian Vecellio seine Grausamkeit auf einem riesigen Gemälde im Dogenpalast in Venedig darstellen wollte.
