BARCELONA INVASION



El món està sent conquerit!! Fa uns pocs anys, un personatge anònim de París va iniciar un moviment que pretenia conquerir el món però d'una forma pacífica en contraposició amb les nombroses guerres que hi ha al món. La seva idea era que uns simpàtics "àliens" conquerissin les ciutats del món. Prenent com a referència els àliens d'un joc d'ordinador dels anys 80 (Space-Invaders), va crear-ne reproduccions fetes amb rajoletes de piscina i les comença a enganxar per París. Aquesta idea va arrelar i poc a poc s'ha estés per tot el món. Moltes ciutats del planeta (Nova York, Tokyo, Ginebra,...) amaguen àliens posats per aquest moviment conqueridor en els llocs més inversemblants. Barcelona no n'és una excepció! Aquest geocaching consistirà en trobar aquests àliens amagats per la ciutat i respondre una sèrie de preguntes relacionades amb el seu entorn. Per a més informació sobre aquest moviment cultural "underground", consulteu www.space-invaders.com (per cert, cap dels àliens que surten en aquesta web forma part d'aquest geocaching).

Consideracions prèvies:
  • No és un cache gens fàcil. Ha estat pensat per posar a prova les dots d'observació i de deducció dels que intentin dur-lo a terme. Tampoc és un cache impossible, qualsevol persona el pot fer :)
  • No podeu abandonar pensant que algun dels àliens no hi és. Els àliens solen estar enganxants amb rajola i ciment i en lloc de difícil accés per un vianant (no sempre).
  • Molt adequat per a fer una bona visita de Barcelona :)
  • Recomanable de fer un dissabte o diumenge al dematí (entre setmana pot haver-hi algun problema encara que el geocacher espavilat sabria resoldre'l caminat una mica més del compte un cop arribat al final :)
  • Preneu-vos-ho amb calma. Té una duració d'unes 4-5 hores.

La nostra cacera d'aliens comença en aquesta posició, prop de l'esglesia de Santa Maria del Mar. Aquest alien serà un dels més fàcils de trobar: asseieu-vos a les escales de l'esglesia i busqueu amb la mirada...

Pregunta:
Quants tentacles té aquest alien vestit de Carnestoltes?
Assigneu aquest número a la variable A.

Ens trobem davant d'un edifici emblemàtic de la ciutat on els aliens hi van passar no fa gaire en la seva croada de conquista. Entreu en aquest edifici i feu-hi una passejada, dirigiu-vos cap a zona on hi viuen les oques. Un cop aquí responeu:

Pregunta:
Quantes cares té l'objecte que balla sobre l'aigua? Assigneu aquest número a la variable B.
(Per respondre aquest enigma podeu preguntar-li a la persona encarregada de la tenda de souvenirs "quin és aquest objecte que balla sobre l'aigua"...)

En aquest recinte on viuen les oques, prop de la tenda de records, hi ha una sortida que dóna al carrer. Hi veureu una estatua d'una escultor cítric. Busqueu un alien en aquesta zona...

Pregunta:
Caldara IV és planeta de tipus M (prop de la Nebulosa de Glauser-Röist) habitat per formes de vida semblants als insectes de la Terra. Una de les moltes curioses costums de les femelles Caldarianes és la de tatuar als seus amants amb una marca distintiva. Aquest alien que heu trobat va passar un període de pràctiques a Caldara IV reparant motors de curvatura i va mantenir algunes relacions amb les fèmines locals. Quants tatuatges porta aquest alien a resultes de la seva estada a Caldara IV? Assigneu aquest número a la variable C.

Al voltant d'aquesta zona trobareu un dels nostres aliens vigilant. Localitzeu-lo!

Pregunta:
Ajudant-vos de la taula que hi ha cap al final d'aquesta pàgina, trobeu el número associat al color de la pell del nostre alien. Assigneu aquest número a la variable D.

Localitzeu aquest nou alien i entendreu que són molt devots.En aquest proper edifici tan emblemàtic hi van deixar una càpsula cilíndrica (caché físic MOLT petit) que contenia un missatge. És deure teu localitzar-la i esbrinat aquest missatge! Sortosament, el contra-espionatge de la Terra va trobar un mapa que t'ajudarà a trobar aquesta càpsula...

Consulteu les notes xifrades al final per més ajuda...

Pregunta:
Dins del cilindre hi trobareu un número de tres xifres. Assigneu aquest número a les variables EFG. Recordeu que el Gran Geomuggler us vigila atentament...

(Torneu a deixar la càpsula com la vau trobar i si podeu, porteu una mica de Blue-Tac o cel·lo per reforçar el seu "enganxament").

Pregunta Alternativa:
En el cas que la càpsula hagués estat robada per algun geomuggler, seguiu aquestes instruccions per esbrinar el número secret. Sortiu de l'edifici. Protegit per mils de ganivets i esmolades navalles, hi ha un carrer estretet. Agafeu-lo i busqueu la casa on hi va habitar F.S.C. (inicials), un il·lustre científic català. F.S.C. és el patró dels enginyers de Telecomunicació catalans ja que es diu que va inventar el telegraf abans que Marconi (ben cert!). Hi ha una placa commemorativa grossa que us permetrà esbrinar l'edat d'aquest cèlebre científic. Amb això:

Al voltant d'aquesta zona trobareu un dels nostres aliens vigilant. Troveu-lo!

Pregunta:
Ajudant-vos de la taula que hi ha cap al final d'aquesta pàgina, trobeu el número associat al color de la pell del nostre alien. Assigneu aquest número a la variable H.

Prop d'aquestes coordenades trobareu un altre alien que vigila atentament. Busqueu-lo.

Pregunta:
Aquest alien vigila un edifici cultural de la ciutat. El germà bessó i la quasi-cunyada (mai va arribar a ser-ho) de la noia que dóna nom a aquest edifici segur que hi han actuat moltes vegades. Si volguéssim trucar al "pare" d'aquests quasi-esposos, quin prefixe hauríem de marcar? Cerqueu una cabina de telèfons i esbrineu-ne el número. Assigneu aquest número a la variables IJ.

Busqueu, un altre cop, l'alien que hi ha amagat en aquesta àrea.

NOTA: He descobert que en aquesta mateixa posició hi ha un altre alien (que també té el mateix número de rajoles enmirallades). Trobeu-lo també (com a repte personal... ).

Pregunta:
Quantes rajoles "enmirallades" té aquest alien? Assigneu aquest número a la variable K.

Cerqueu l'alien que s'amaga en aquesta zona de tan pintoresca de Barcelona.

Pregunta:
De quin color és aquest alien? Assigneu aquest número a la variable L.

Aquest és l'últim alien que heu de trobar abans de "teletransportar-nos" cap a la seva base d'operacions. Aquest no serà pas un alien fàcil de trobar... De fet és força difícil (en cap cas podeu abandonar pensant que algú l'ha arrencat, perqué no és possible).Sort!

Pregunta:
El professor Stanislaw Pitz resident a Viena (però d'origen polonès) imparteix la càtedra de "Profilaxi Aplicada d'Edificis" a l'Universitat de la citada ciutat. A la seva targeta de visita hi podem llegir "S.Pitz, Doctor en Profilaxi". A l'últim congrès que va assistir, celebrat a la ciutat suïssa de Lausanne, va escriure a la pissarra:

Potser això t'ajudarà a descobrir quin número de línia de tren/metro et "teletransportarà" a la base dels aliens. El color d'aquest alien, i la tercera col·lumna de la taula final, et determinaran quin medi de transport haurás d'agafar: Metro, FGC o Renfe. Ves fins a la Plaça Catalunya, agafa aquest tren/metro fins a l'última parada ("en quin sentit?", et preguntaràs. Això ja ho sabràs un cop allà...). Ja t'apropes al final...

Un cop hagis arribat a la teva destinació, sortiràs a l'exterior en una transitada plaça.

Pregunta:
Agafa la primera lletra del personatge o cosa que dóna nom a aquesta plaça. Quina posició ocupa aquesta lletra dins de l'abecedari (abecedari standard, sense tenir en compte ç,ñ,ll,...)? Assignali aquest valor a les variables MN (el número te dues xifres).

Els àliens han aconseguit infiltrar-se fins a tal punt que van fer-se dissenyar un medi de transport especial per a ells que els portés molt aprop de la seva base secreta. Per tal de fer saber als altres àliens vinguts de visita quin medi de transport habien de fer servir, van deixar una marca molt característica en aquest lloc. Feu ús de les vostres dots d'observació i busqueu aquesta marca secreta que us indicarà quin transport heu d'agafar. Un cop més pujeu-hi i aneu fins a l'última parada.

Un cop més us trobeu en un lloc molt pintoresc de Barcelona.El vostre "teletransportador" us ha deixat en una plaça dedicada a la memòria d'una persona. No us costarà esbrinar la seva data de naixement i de mort.

Assigneu la data de naixement i mort a les lletres 1OPQ-1RST.

Després d'una caminadeta d'uns 20 minuts arribareu al preuat cache. Recordeu que no sempre la línia recta és la millor forma d'arribar (menys els últims 100 metres, es pot anar sempre per llocs més o menys transitables a peu). Està amagat dins d'un espès arbust i cobert amb unes quantes pedres. És una caixa amb tapa de color blau dins d'una bossa protectora. Si us plau, torneu a amagar-la ben amagada :)

  • Un joc de cartes.
  • Un cendrer decoratiu robat d'un tren a Bulgaria.

Earth is being conquered!! Some years ago, an anonymous person from Paris iniciated a movement that pretends to conquer the world but in a a pacific way in opposition with the too many wars being held all around. His idea was that funny aliens conquer the cities of our planet. Then, taking the aliens from a computer game from 80's as a reference (Space-Invaders), he made reproductions of them with swimming-pool small tiles and began to stick them all around Paris. This idea spreaded around and in a short time many people all around the world began to "conquer" cities such as New York, Tokyo, Geneva,... These cities have aliens sticked in very unusual places; Barcelona is not an exeption!! This geocaching constists in finding this hidden aliens into the city and answer few questions about their environment. With this you will be able to reach the final base of the aliens, that is the cache itself. For more information about this underground movement, check www.space-invaders.com (however, none of the aliens showed in this web takes part in this geocaching).

Notes about this cache:
  • It is NOT an easy cache. It has been designed to test the observation and deduction skills of the people who would like to find this cache. Nevertheless, this is not an impossible cache, any person can do it! :)
  • You cannot give it up thinking that some alien is missing. Aliens are made of ceramic tiles attached with cement to walls. Also, they are in places hard to access without a ladder (not in all the cases!).
  • A very recommendable cache if you would like to do a good tour around Barcelona.
  • I would encourage you to do this cache on saturday or sunday morning (if you try to do it in the middle of the week you would find some problems at the end but the cun geocacher would solve it very easily :)
  • Take it easy. This cache can last around 4-5 hours.

Our hunt for aliens begins in this position, near Santa Maria del Mar Church. This alien will be one of the easiest ones to find: sit down on the stairs of the church and watch around you...

How many tentacles does this colorful alien have?

We are now in front of an remarkable building of this city where the aliens passed through not long time ago in their conquering crusade. Enter into the building and wander around; after that, go to the area where live the gooses. Once there reply the following question:

Question:
How many faces does have the object that dances on the water? Assign this number to the variable B.
(Maybe, to solve this enigma you should ask to the person in charge of the souvernirs small shop about "what is this object that dances on the water"...)

In the are where gooses live, near the souvenirs small shop, there is an exit that goes to the street. There you will see a statue of a citric statue builder. Seek the alien in the area around...

Question:
Caldara IV is an M-type planet (near the Glauser-Röist Nebula) inhabitated by life forms similar to the insects we can found in Earth. One of the curious habits of the Caldarian females is to tatoo their lovers with a distinctive sign. The alien you have found spent a short training course at Caldara IV fixing warp engines and have few "lover" relationships with some Caldarian babes. How many tatoos does this alien have related with its experience at Caldara IV? Assign this number to the variable C.

Around this area you will find one our aliens observing. Find him!

By using the table you will find at the end of this page, find the number assigned to the color of the skin of this alien. Assign this number to the variable D.

Locate this new alien and then you will understand that they are very religious. In the nearby emblematic building they left a cilindrical capsule (very small physical cache) that contained a message. Is your duty to find it and read the message. Fortunately, Earth Secret Service found a map that might help you to find the capsule...

Inside the cilinder you will find a 3 digits number. Assign this number to the variables EFG. Remember that the Big Geomuggler is watching you at this place...

(Please, leave the capsule again in the same place you found it and, if you can, bring a piece of tape or Blue-Tac to stick it again).

Alternative Question:
If the capsule would had been stolen by a geomuggler, follow these instructions to find out the secret number. Leave the building. Protected by thousands of knives and swords, there is a narrow street. Take it and find the house where lived F.S.C. (the letters comming from the name and the two surnames), an clever catalan scientist. F.S.C is the patron of the catalan Telecommunication Engineers because he invented the wired telegraph before Marconi (that's true!). There is a conmemorative sign that will allow you to find out the age of that important catalan scientist. With this:

Question:
This alien is guarding a cultural building of the city. The twin brother and the almost-sister-in-law (she never was) of the girl who gave name to this building played here many times. If we would like to call the "father" of this "almost-couple", which prefix should we dial? Look for a public phone and find out this number. Assign this number to the variables IJ.

Once again, look for an alien hidden around...

Question:
How many "mirrored" tiles does have this alien? Assign this number to the variable K.

Locate the alien hidden in this pintoresque area of Barcelona.

Question:
What is the color of this alien? Assign the corresponding number to the variable L.

This is the last alien you must found before "beaming" us to their secret operation base. This will NOT be an easy alien to be found... In fact, it is very difficult (remember that in any cas you can give it up thinking that someone has destroyed it because it is impossible). Good luck!

Question:
Professor Stanislaw Pitz resides in Vienna (but he has polish roots). He teaches the cathedra of "Buildings Applied Prophylaxis" at the University of the named city. At his business card we can read "S.Pitz, Doctor in Prophylaxis". At the last congress he attended, held at the swiss city of Lausanne, he wrote on the blackboard:

This will help you to discover which line number of metro/train will "beam" you to alien's base. The color of this alien and the third column of the table placed at the end of this page will determinet which transport you will have to take:Metro, FGC or Renfe. Go to Plaça Catalunya, take this train/metro until the last stop (you may ask, "which direction?". Once there you will know what to do...). Go ahead! You are reaching the end...

Once you will have arrived to your destination, you will go outside to a very busy square.

Question:
Take the first letter of the person or whatever that gives name to this square. Which position does it have in the alphabet? Assign this value to the variables MN (the number has two digits).

The aliens have been infiltrated so deeply in the city that they even designed an special transport for them. This transport will bring you near the secret base. In order to make the visitng aliens which transport they had to take, the aliens left a very characteristic mark in this place. Use you observation skills and find this mark. It will let you know which transport you have to take. Once again, take it until the last stop!

Now you will find yourelf in a very nice place of Barcelona. Your "transport" have left you in a square dedicated to a person. It will not be hard for you to find out his/her birth and death date.

Question:
Assign the birth and death date to the variables 1OPQ-1RST.

After a 20 minutes walk you will reach the secret base of the aliens (that is the cache!). Remember that the straight line is not always the best way. It is well hidden inside a dense bush and covered by stones. It has a blue lid and it's inside a plastic bag. Please, hide it again very well! :)
