Geocache Description:

An easy cache near an Orange Grove

This is #1 in a (forthcoming) series of caches, highlighting orange trees/groves in Orange, CA.

A Community of Oranges

You may not be aware that the City of Orange maintains an orange grove at Hart Park.  Planted 40 years ago, and named after the City’s first directly elected Mayor, the Robert D. Hoyt Municipal Orange Grove was meant to be a “Reminder of the contribution of the citrus industry to the community of Orange.”

The grove has been fenced off to protect it from the general public.  Oranges from the grove are sometimes harvested by non-profit groups such as Orange Home Grown which recently picked 2,200 pounds of fruit and donated them to organizations such as Mary’s Kitchen, St. John’s Food Pantry, and the Friendly Center.

Bring your own pen/pencil.  The log takes up most of the cache space, but there is room for some small swag. A homemade FTF token goes the first to find...
