An easy cache which starts with a wonder round the lovely
grounds of Adel Church, after the first DNF's I have chosen another
grave stone to make it easier. Look for two larger monuments (both
square) one is it one is next to the headstone you need.
To find the final co-ords you will need to find two pieces of
information.
Find the grave of Francis Robinson who died aged 81, take his year
of death from 2380 = N53 51.XXX
Find the grave of Richard Nussey who died aged 69 take the year of
his death from 2128 = W1 35.YYY
The village of Adel on the outskirts of Leeds has a magnificent
little church with ornate carvings around the door, under
the eaves and in the interior. The present fabric dates to the
mid-1100s, but an earlier church may once have existed on
the site. A local folktale tells how the church was originally
built at Blackhill, some distance away, but its presence so
offended the fairies that they moved the building to its present
site in the night. This may represent an old memory of the
original church having been built of stone quarried from the rubble
of the nearby Roman town.
Further information on the church may be found
here.
The final cache is within an easy 5 minute walk of the
church.
