Slēpņošana Latvijā aizsākās 2001. gada jūlijā, kad divi entuziasti izlika pirmo slēpni Latvijas teritorijā un novietoja to Kolkas ragā. Šis slēpnis ir uzskatāms par visvecāko Latvijā un tas vēl ir aktīvs līdz šim brīdim "KOLKA STASH" GC1009 (28.07.2018).

Lai godinātu šo nozīmīgo notikumu un pastāstītu citiem par šo faktu, Kolkas ragā ir izvietota piemiņas plāksne pirmajam slēpnim Latvijā.
Ir divi varianti, lai reģistrētu šo slēpni kā atrastu.
1. variants:
Uz plāksnes ir QR kods, kuru nolasot, iegūsi e-pastu, uz kuru sūtīt savu GEO nickname.
Saņemot atbildes e-pastu, vari slēpni reģistrēt kā atrastu (ja pievienosi bildes ar plāksni, pārliecinies, ka bildē nav redzams QR kods).
2. variants:
Tev būs jāapmeklē dotās koordinātes un jānoskaidro:
• kāds burts ir uz akmens, uz kura atrodas piemiņas plāksne pirmajam slēpnim Latvijā. Tā būs vērtība x
• blakus atrodas arī cits akmens, uz kura ir rakstīti divi vārdi. Noskaidro otrā vārda burtu vērtību summu, kas kāpināta kvadrātā (izmanto angļu alfabētu). Vērtība yyyy
Piemēram: ZEME (Z=26)+(E=5)+(M=13)+(E=5)=49²= 2401
• Nosūti savu GEO nickname uz e-pastu: xyyyykolka@gmail.com
Saņemot atbildes e-pastu, vari slēpni reģistrēt kā atrastu.

Geocaching in Latvia started at July 2001 when two enthusiasts placed first geocache in Kolka cape. More info here.
In honor of this occasion, latvian geocachers made a memorial plaque and placed it in coordinates given.
To log this virtual you have two options.
1st option:
Scan QR code on the memorial plaque and you will get e-mail needed to send your nickname.
As soon as you get auto-reply from C/O you can register your find.
2nd option:
• find out what is a letter on the stone with memorial plaque "First in Latvia". This will be value x
• not far off is another stone with two words. You need to find out sum of all letter values squared (SECOND WORD ONLY!!!). Value yyyy
Example: EARTH (E=5)+(A=1)+(R=18)+(T=20)+(H=8)=52²=2704
• send your NICKNAME to e-mail xyyyykolka@gmail.com
As soon as you receive auto-reply from C/O you can register your find.
