Geocache Description:

We have had to relocate this following yet another vanishing!. There are clear footpaths but not all appear on maps. Not suitable for pushchairs etc. There are busy roads surrounding the area. Please be careful.

Heath Common is a beautiful old Common near the Georgian village of Heath. The village is designated a conservation area of outstanding architectural and historic interest. The Common was saved from enclosure in the 1840s by the famous naturalist Charles Waterton, who wrote, "It is beautiful in nature's wildest charms". Today it is leased to Wakefield Council by the Heath Estate. There is also a very pleasant hostelry that still has some gas lighting! This weblink will give some more information. http://www.wildyorkshire.co.uk/naturediary/docs/2003/11/15.html The co-ordinates above are for the suggested start/parking spot. You will need answers to the following to get the final co-ordinates. a. Before you leave the start point, what is the byelaw number that prohibits grazing animals? (One has to ask if a horse is an animal???) b. Go to N53º 40.405 W001º 27.786 and note the two digit number on the signs in a red box! c. Go to N53º 40.397 W001º 27.437 and note the date on the gate! Now sit down, if its dry! Add together the individual digits (1+9+9 etc) from answers "b" and "c" and subtract answer "a". Now subtract this answer from N53º 40.404 and you have the first co-ordinate. Now add answer "b" (67) to the sum of 1 +9 +9 +7 and add total to W001º 27.713. You now have the final co-ordinates! Now go find the cache! The cache contains the usual log book plus odd bits and bobs. Please hide it well again after retrieval as this is a popular area. Hope this one lasts a bit longer!
