Geocache Description:

This is a small traditional cache containing all the usual bits 'n' bobs. It is located on the Alwen Trail which is a footpath/off road cycle track which goes around the Alwen Reservoir.

The Alwen Trail was opened on the 21st July 2006. This circular route around the Alwen Reservoir is approximately 7.5 miles (11 Km). It follows forestry tracks and paths along the water’s edge and upto the moorland of Mynydd Hiraethog. The scenery around the reservoir is wonderfully varied with a beautiful section along the waters edge, from the position high on the moorlands there are excellent views. Along the way you will come across 6 illustrated panels, providing information of the wildlife, culture and folk tales associated with the area, including the story of ‘Freckled Fairy Cow’.
Links have also been created to the established, nearby Brenig Trail, providing 20 miles of continuous walking and cycling. See website below for more information.
