Geocache Description:

The seventh in a series of letterbox hybrids based on the Gym Leader Badges from the first generation of Pokemon games, which took place in fictional Kanto. Unlike the Harry Potter Rune Series, which were at the posted coordinates, the Kanto Gym Badge will require you to follow letterbox directions to find the final cache.

The Volcano Badge is the seventh obtainable badge in Kanto's Indigo League, and is given after the trainer defeats Blaine, who specializes in Fire type Pokemon. The badge increases the special attack and special defense of the trainer's Pokemon.

Directions:

Begin at the posted coordinates, which are for a trailhead for the green trail. Bear a slight right past the rusty grill just beyond the trailhead and continue until you see a tree with a blue and green arrow on it. Follow the direction of the green arrow, and you should see a skinny tree in the middle of the path just beyond with two arrows on it. Take and follow path to the left, with two green arrows that leading the way along it. Cross over a bridge and continue until you pass through a cut log on the trail. Keep going just beyond the split log until you see a tall tree with a green arrow on the right side of the path. Turn towards the tree, and look approximately 15-20 into the woods. The letterbox hybrid will be behind and under a fallen log.

This letterbox hybrid is located in Veteran’s Memorial Park in Barrington. Note that the main gate for the park is closed from December 1 - March 31, so if you find the cache during this time you will need to park at the YMCA and walk in. You'll notice a separate container inside with the stamp - DO NOT TAKE IT. If you would like to stamp, please bring your own ink pad, as there isn't one in the cache.

Please visit http://www.atlasquest.com/boxes/clue/?boxId=277171 to see this letterbox hybrid listed on Atlas Quest.

Special thanks to RIclimber for carving and providing the awesome stamp. Hope you enjoy!
