Geocache Description:

This cache is located along the Padilla Bay Uplands Trail. It is an easy cache that is a great place to bring the kids to explore, have fun, bird watch, and learn a little about estuaries.

*CAUTION!!! DURING SPRING AND SUMMER THERE IS A VERY ACTIVE BEE HIVE NEAR THE CACHE.* Padilla Bay is an estuary at the salt water edge north of the Skagit River delta. The bay itself has one of the largest continuous seagrass beds in North America which supports a wide range of birds, fish, mammals, and other sea creatures. Padilla Bay Reserve was created to conduct research in order to learn more about Padilla Bay and as an education center to teach children and adults the importance of estuaries and the environment. To get to Padilla Bay Reserve and the starting point for the cache take highway 20 West from I-5. Then follow the signs to Padilla Bay or Bayview State Park. The Reserve is north of the park about a quarter mile. The cache is hidden along the Uplands trail where many people come to walk and bird watch. To get to the cache (the scenic way) take the trail up towards the forest and take a left when it splits (this is the scenic route to the cache). Enjoy the trail and please stop by the interpretive center if you have time. *CAUTION* There is a beehive in the area of the cache.
