William Allen (1711-1799) an immigrant from Larne, Ireland, came to America in 1729 with his brother David. They were two of 23 children of Elder Robert Allen and Janet Hare. William first settled in Hunterdon County, NJ and in 1759 purchased 1150 acres in Loudoun and Fauquier Counties. In 1762, William purchased 900 acres on this site and called it 'Red Hill Plantation'. He was a Revolutionary War soldier. Buried in this cemetery are his relatives.
