Geocache Description:

This i located right by one of Oslo's beautiful and historical graveyards.
It's definitely worth a visit on a sunny day.
Since I was not allowed to place it inside the Graveyard and had to consider three other caches nearby, the cache is placed outside of the graveyard, but you can still see Gamlebyen Gravlund from the location.

The 30th of june 1873 the representatives in Kristiana decided to buy Anefeltløkken as a graveyard for Oslo and Grønland. The cemetary, at the time called Anefeltløkkens kirkegård, began it's purpose on the 14th of october 1874, but the oldest part of the burialground was already set up in ca 1550 and then originally belonged to Oslo Hospital. That was later bought up in 1961 by Oslo kommune.

In 1877 the burial chapel was built. It was later renovated and rebuilt in 1934-1935 inside and out. The main entrance was moved from the north to the south side and a bell tower was added.
Inside the chapel there's a woven picture by the famous artist Grethe Lein Lange.
Gamlebyen Gravlund is also connected to Gamlebyen Church that stood finished the 11th of may 1796.

The graveyard has changed it's name a totoal of three times; Anefeltløkken Kirkegård(1874), Oslo Gravlund (1894) and when the town changed it's name from Kristiania to Oslo on january 1st 1924, it was decided to once again change the name, this time to Gamlebyen Gravlund.

Nowadays Gamlebyen Gravlund houses about 7000 graves and is the final resting place of several celebrities, such as the painter Adolph Tidemann, bishop Johannes Smidt, Norways first locomotive driver William Graham and Adolf Lindstrøm who travelled to the South and North pole together with Roald Amundsen.

Gamlebyen Gravlund is divided into several parts, categories, if you like.
In one part there is a collection of sailors graves, there's a memorial monument for urn-burials and in 1972 they made a burial field for muslims, where the graves are turned towards Mekka.

The container is a camo tin box 2x6x9,5cm.
Original contents:
Pen
Log
2 Buttons
Pretty "rock"
Adjustable Dolphin-ring

The cache can be a bit tricky to get out, so Please put the containter back exactly as you found it and make sure it is attached properly.Don't put too much heavy things inside and be a little stealthy, since it's a popular area for people who live nearby.
