This cache is in the vicinity of two local Cordova sites. Nicolet Creek and The curved bridge.
Nicolet Creek was named after Ralph Nicolet, who was killed in a hunting accident while duck hunting near the creek in 1930. His brother Harry was a new york life insurance salesman who made frequent visits to Cordova during his lifetime. Here is an article from the Cordova Times by local Dick Shellhorn about how the creek was named and how it has evolved from it's curved bridge days to today's culvret.
The turnout just past the old bridge, recently paved, overlooks orca inlet and the beautiful 3 mile bay. The area is still a popular spot for duck hunting and in the 70's and 80's was also one of the most popular locations for large outdoor parties.
The cache itself is a mega bison with original contents as follows:
- Pencil
- Logbook
- Good Luck Geocoin
Congratulations to AKseadog for the FTF!!!
